Tucson Foothills

Tucson Foothills

The Foothills in Tucson's Santa Catalina Mountains range is a great part of town to live.
The area overlooks the city of Tucson and is situated as an access point to most of Tucson in a short drive.
The landscape is filled with lots of open desert areas where the natural vegatation such as Palo Verde Trees, Saguaros, Prickly Pear Cacti, Barrel Cacti and the indigneous animals such as Coyotes, Bob Cats, Mountain Lions, Javelinas and the occcasional Mule Deer can roam.
You can enjoy a ride on the tram into wonderful Sabino Canyon and also to Bear Canyon where the water runs most of the year from the snow melt or from mountain showers.
If you like to hike or get lost in the wilderness, there are endless trails throughout the Santa Catalinas for all levels of difficulty.
The Foothills has some of the best resorts and Spas in the US. Most of them have world class Golf Courses for you to enjoy the beauty of this area and the views.
One of my favorite golf courses is the Ventana's Mountain course, which meanders around incredible rock formations, but the Canyon course is a close second.  There are a couple other great golf courses in the Foothills and those would be La Paloma and Skyline Country Club.  All three Golf Clubs have private memberships and two of them allow the public to play at certain times.
If you live in this mountain desert oasis Tucsonian's call "The Foothills", "Tucson Foothills" or "Catalina Foothills" one can enjoy upscale shopping close to your home at La Encantada located at Skyline and Campbell.
The shopping center has many fabulous restaurants for all tastes, North, Ra, Firebird, Bluepoint, Armitage, Blanco, Frost, together with AJ's Supermarket, Louis Vitton, Tiffany's, Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Ann Taylor, William Sonoma, Lucy, Mac and many more specialty shops. Around the Mall in other shopping Centers, there are other fine restaurants such as Anthony's, Sur Real and Flemings.  If you are looking for more casual dining in the area which offers great food, a sports bar, family friendly at a great value, visit Risky Business at Sunrise and Kolb. The area is also dotted with Art Galleries with wondeful interpretations of the Desert Southwest including the Diane Madaras Gallery
If you are relocating to the area or already live in Tucson and would like to buy a home or are interested in real estate in the Tucson area, there are many choices.
You can find great apartment rentals, condos, mid-ranged homes, luxury homes, homes on acreage, and homes in gated communities.
You can also find old Joesler homes, old adobe homes, golf properties, and custom contemporary homes designed by world reknowned Architect Kevin Howard, Ron Robinette and Alexandra Hayes.
There are many Gated Communties in and around the Foothills. Sabino Mountain, a gated community, sits on the Eastern edge of what is called the Catalina Foothills.
It offers homes from 1500 sq.ft. up to over 5000 sq.ft. with spectacular views of both Mountains and the city.  Ventana Canyon also offers an array of luxury homes from estates cut into the mountain side to golf course townhomes and condos.  If your looking for luxury homes, the areas of interest to you would be Finisterra, The Canyons, Alta Vista, Pima Canyon Estates, Sabino Canyon, La Paloma, Ventana, Skyline, Cobblestone and Sin Vacas.  Most are gated or guard gated communties and offer great Catalina Mountain and City Views.
When you are looking to relocate and have school age children, then Schools are important. The Catalina Foothills School District had a phenominal reputation and offers many programs from Elementary to High School.
If you are looking for a wonderful pre-school St Thomas Pre-school and St. Alban's come highly recomended. The newly constructed La Paloma Urgent Care is alsl located in the heart of the Foothills.
The Foothills in Tucson offers a wonderful array of homes from Condos to Luxury Estates, restaurants, and activities for all ages. Make sure that you check the area out when you visit.
