Southwest Tucson

Southwest Tucson

The Southwest Tucson area contains some of the most beautiful views in the whole Tucson area.  Watching the sun set along the Ironwood Forest National Monument from Saguaro National Park West is something everyone should enjoy.  Parts of Southwest Tucson are far off the usual, beaten path that most Tucsonans take, but it's well worth the winding drive.  Actually the winding drive through Gates Pass is one of the most fun attributes of the area if you like driving and extraordinary scenery.  You'll also see alot of wildlife out here in certain areas so be prepared and be smart.  Like most parts of Tucson, you can find real estate for sale in the rural areas as well as the urban areas.  Beautiful homes in each one.  Watch the stars while you listen to the coyotes.  You feel like you're in an old western movie out here, which is appropriate since Old Tucson Studios is located in Southwest Tucson.

Southwest Tucson stretches roughly south of Ina Rd., east of Sandario Rd., North of the Tohono O'Odham Nation boundary and west of Saguaro National Park West/Tucson Mountain Park.  Major roads in the area are Valencia Rd., Ajo Highway, Kinney Rd. and Sandario Rd.  Areas east of Saguaro National Park West and north of Ajo Highway are located in the West section of Tucson.  There's also a small section of what is known as Southwest Tucson located west of I 19 and north of The Tohono O'Odham Nation boundary.  The area is vast to say the least.

There's a wide variety of neighborhoods out here as well.  You can choose from the master planned community of Star Valley, the smartly named streets of Critterland, Midvale Park, Mission Ridge, Laurel Heights, Tucson Mountain Ranch, Sonoran Ranch Estates, Mountain Manor View, Millstone Manor, Enchanted Hills, Eagle Point Estates, Villages at Sonora Ranch and many more.

All types of home construction, house styles and prices are here.  You'll find it all.  I have to say personally that I love the Critterland neighborhood.  It's quiet, private and the homes have that Southwest/Santa Fe style that I love.  All of the streets are named after "Critters" as one would expect from the name of the community.  Road names such as Tarantula, Cricket, Millipede, Tree Frog and Spiney Lizard adorn the street signs.  Very unique.  Another favorite is the master planned community of Star Valley.  Star Valley offers many different neighborhoods throughout it's area.  It is located just off of Valencia Rd.  Very close to all attractions listed in this article.  The homes are newer and very beautiful.  All of Southwest Tucson is a pretty landscape and Star Valley does a nice job of capturing this.  Plenty of homes for sale to choose from.

Plenty of fun things to do.  If you need to do some shopping of any kind,  visit Tucson Spectrum, at the corner of I 19 and Irvington.  It's only a few years old and it has a wide variety of known stores and an 18 screen movie theater.  There are more shopping centers than that one.  I mention this one due to it's enormous size.  It's very nice.  Saguaro National Park West offers hiking and great sightseeing.  If you're in to guns,  you can to to the Pima County Rifle and Pistol Range off of Kinney Rd.  You can also enjoy a night of camping at Gilbert Ray Campground as well.  Golfing at Tucson Estates Golf Course is wonderful.  You can also take a day at the park at nearby Kennedy Park, Mission Ridge, Ebonee Marie Moody, Winston Reynolds Manzinita and Oaktree.  I also want to point out that the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is located in Southwest Tucson as well.  If you've never been here.  Go.  It's world reknown and it's a great place to spend the day.  If you don't like museums, don't worry.  It's more like a zoo. Got the gambling itch.  Southwest Tucson's got you covered.  Casino Del Sol is out here and it's hoppin.  Entertainment comes in all varieties out here as does the real estate.  We cannot forget the aforementioned Old Tucson Studios.  Concerts, shows, rides, and sights are plentiful here.  This is where alot of old western pictures were filmed and it's still used by Hollywood as a filming location to this day.  Old Tucson Studios is also where Nightfall takes place during the month of October.  It's Halloween fun in October.  It's a one of the many gems of Southwest Tucson.

As you can see, Southwest Tucson is a great place to put down some stakes on a piece of real estate and if you're not interested in owning a home out here and you're happy with the house you have,  I still strongly suggest taking a drive through the area.  It's beautiful and fun.  As in nearly all areas of Tucson,  there are plenty of homes for sale to choose from to find that perfect piece of real estate to call home.  Please let me know if you have any questions about Southwest Tucson homes for sale or what the area has to offer.  The possibilities are endless.
